Getting her from the RSPCA, awaiting home visit.
Dog has a flea allergy and Front Line is being used.
She will be going to the vets for a check over when we get her.
Does anybody know a decent site to buy Front Line from?
I know what vets are like ....

Cheers

Bit of a dead group this, these days.

Since you are getting the dog through the RSPCA, you are best asking their
advice. Contact them before the home visit, mention your concerns about
vets' charges, and ask them for the best outlets, both on and off the web.
They give the information you require during the visit. This visit is also
the best time to ask any other questions you have or for any advice you
need.

Best of luck with the new lodger.

I have found a decent site and the RSPCA say the vet will sign the
prescription.
Don't understand why it is prescription though.
We can well afford the treatment from a vet and would not go in for another
dog if we could not.
But, I just don't like paying double.
We should be getting new dog maybe next week, she needs to be neutered
first.
She is lovely :-)))))))))))))))))
Looks like Wile E Coyote. Part collie
Name of Bouncer which does not suit her. If you can think of a name that
rhymes let me know. I have pulled my hair out over this, wife don't like any
of my ideas.
It is sad when groups die, a lot of my old favourites have been overrun by
the trolls.

How about Flouncer. With the love and care she deserves and will certainly
receive, she will no doubt turn out to be a right little madam. :-)

If it was down to me - yes, good idea and thanks.
However, the wife is not too keen and has suggested Pepper or Floppy.
It's looking like Pepper at the moment......
I was going to send you the link to the pic, but she has been taken off the
site.

I'll try to keep this serious, but a smile is on my face as I write it.

I don't know how much experience you have of dogs, especially Collies and
their varieties. I've kept Border Collies for over 30 years (currently on my
fourth), and in that time I reckon I've got to know them pretty well.
Basically, a Collie couldn't care a damn what you call it. It will respond
to it's master's (or probably in your case, it's mistress's) voice without
hesitation. Mine, well she responds to anything I call her, most of which
names you'll never find in a reputable dictionary. :-) If you keep more than
one dog, then a name does become important, and you have to teach the dog to
respond to that name, and no other. But a dog on its own will take notice of
its owner everytime they speak, whether to the dog or to someone else. I
live on my own with the current lodger, and you have to see what's happening
here when I'm on the phone!!! (Same thing applied to previous lodger, too.)

So my advice is for you to choose a name that you (& SHMBO) are happy with.
From the word go, alternate between Bouncer and the name you choose, and
within a few days she will have accepted the new name, and within a week
will probably have completely forgotten the old one.

I can only add that when we have re-homed rescue dogs from either Dogs
Trust, or RSPCA, they have suggested that we train the dog to a new
name that sounds VERY different(even to the point of number of
syllables!) from the name it had before it was rescued. The thinking
here is that there may be associations with bad experiences from
previous owners. So we did.

By the way, I continue to watch this group although I may not say
much.

Neil.

Well, Bouncer was sadly cancelled.
The wife after many sleepless nights decided that she was too boisterous. I
don't think that she got her name for no reason.
The wife has *very* bad arthritis, taking a boisterous dog out on the lead
could cause a flare up.
I had to agree with her decision.
We were both quite upset, but the decision was the right one.

We now have a 10 week old Westie, a little girl name of Pippa.
She will get the best life possible and all of the love in the world.

I'd like to thank yourself and jim for your input.
